Hero Voicer is a Windows program that lets users change their voices over chat. It works with sophisticated voice chat programs, such as Skype, but also in games. Take trash talk to a whole new level with an enhanced baritone, robotic voice characteristics or something else. There are even ambient sound effects to play. Have fireworks blast off in the background each time you brag, or deliver the gentle and soothing sounds of rainfall every time you speak.

All voice changes and ambient sound effects are available on the fly. Using mouse button clicks or hotkeys, you can switch to a voice profile, play a one-time sound bite or start a sound loop. The program comes with dozens of default voices and sound effects, and you can adjust these to your liking and save them into new voices. You can also create custom voices for scratch, import ambient sounds, mix voices and sounds and a lot more. Some default voices are even based on famous characters.

The profile editing system is reasonably sophisticated and gives you a lot of options. It also has a Hear Myself mode so that you test voices and make adjustments in advance of using them with your friends. Use the program to have fun and enhance your chat, but it’s not unrealistic to think that someone — a salesman perhaps — could use this to eliminate some undesirable aspect of her voice while chatting.

There’s not much to gripe about when it comes to Hero Voicer. This program is good at what it does and is easy to use. A potential negative is that many of the voices based on famous characters may not sound right. There are just so many variables, and it can really be hit or miss. That won’t stop you from having a blast with all the different ways you can manipulate your voice and troll your buddies.
